Big Fish Cay, Abaco
What’s the next best thing to owning a private island? Getting to design one!
Island Nest is currently designing this private island property for a U.S.-based family. Our goal? To create an understated but luxurious Bahamian-inspired home, with space for the family to spread out and gather for family meals and fun.
Over four acres of this property consists of a mixture of new and refurbished buildings, totaling seven buildings altogether: four residential cottages, a family entertaining space, an energy center, and a residence for a live-in property manager.
Serving as the client’s representative, Island Nest advocates for our client’s vision and creates interior design concepts, delivering furnishings, custom upholstery, and customized millwork design. We also contribute to the architectural style and landscaping, ensuring cohesive design.
To deliver this project in Northern Abaco, we are very proud to say that we've curated an all-Bahamian team, composed of team members from Nassau, Abaco and Eleuthera. This project is currently in progress—stay tuned for more details as it develops!
Happy Landings
Completed for clients in Lyford Cay, this Balinese-style inspired project called for using as much locally sourced decor and furniture as possible. When we began, the architectural details and base colour were already set. As designers, our challenge was to balance out the imposing mahogany ceiling in the living room.
We worked with Bahama Hand Prints, a fabulously creative local fabric house, to print their patterns using bespoke colour to suit the scheme. We chose cool blues and greens to balance out the richness of the ceiling. We designed the kitchen, and enlisted a faux artist to create murals and special details, adding texture to the walls.
Turtle Bay
This three-bedroom house is an investment property, located in the new development of Turtle Bay in Governors Harbour. In collaboration with BDC Living, we provided everything from the outdoor furniture, to the artwork, to the kitchen utensils. We designed the scheme, handled the procurement and import process, and delivered, unpacked and styled everything, preparing the home to receive its first guests.
Yellow House
We were asked to refresh the Yellow House in Governors Harbour, Eleuthera. Retaining most of the existing furniture we provided some new curtains coordinated with custom Bahama Handprint pillows and some extra accessories we brightened up this property resulting in an elevated island feel.
The property recently sold and a prominent real estate agent paid us a great compliment “Your beautiful work makes all the difference in how this house presents”
